Default 16 or 17 inch rims

Can I put OEM Dodge 5 lug, 17 inch rims from a 2000 1500 on a 96 1500? The 96 has 16 inch 5 lug wheels, not 17 inch. Is the lug pattern the same?

I put some off-road edition 17's from an '01 Ram onto my '99. They are all the same lug pattern from 94-01.

Yup. I just bought'em and they fit. The decorative center cap doesn't fit on the front wheels because the bearing and grease cap stick out too far. I think these rims came off of a 4x4 and my 96 is a 2x4. But for the price I paid, who cares. Got the rims and rubber with about 90% of the tread on them for only $200. Craigslist is great!

Don't mean to hijack, but has anybody here had a problem with running used tires? I had a friend in college thathad the center of the tread basically unroll on him while driving(basically the tread peeled like a potato skin off the tire.) The repair shop told him that rotating aused tire in the opposite direction it had run for a good number of miles could cause that to happen.

BS, or is there any truth to that?

BS. You end up with the same scenario when you cross rotate, which is a common practice. The only time you can't run a tire backward is if it's directional (actually, you can, but it would look stupid andreduce traction)
