RE: Front End Noise Need Imput
Knuckle U-joints and wheel bearings are not unheard of. The Knuckle joint failure is more common on 1/2 tons, while I've seen the wheel bearing more on 3/4 ton trucks. Obviously, if yours is @WD, it's not gonna be a U-joint.
Jack up the suspect wheel and see if it has play (grab top and bottom and try to wiggle it). Also, spin the wheel and listen carefully for a faint growl. If loose or noisy, it's gonna need bearings/a bearing. (if it's 2WD, don't condemn the bearings just for slight play).
If it's a 4x4, turn the wheel all the way and rotate the tire. Bad knuckle joints will usually pop and crunch, especially when turning.
From your description, I'd suspect wheel bearings. Never heard a knuckle joint make noise going straight at highway speeds.
All that said, be sure it's not a tire issue. If the tread looks more like a saw blade (feathered), rotate them and see what happens.
