Default lift and tire ?

hey guys im pickin up my first dodge tommorow and ive been lookin at this site for about a week now. i just wanna say its a good sight and it has a lot of great information. my dodge is a 97, ext. cab., V8, 4x4but i dont think it has the offroad package. first, how can i be sure it does or doesn't have an offroad package. and secondit has street tires on it now and i was wondering how big of tires i can fit with the lift im going to do. im going to put on a 3" body lift and 2" coilspacer/lift block kit. so ill have a total of 5" of lift. i was thinking around 36" tires but i couldn't find a good answer from the search engine. any input will help, thank you. and sorry if this post bothers you, yall probably get this question all the time.

I think the Off Road package was only offered on 2000 and 2001 models, so I would say you don't have it. Also with a 5 inch lift you could easily fit 35's, possibly 36's. I'm sure some others will chime in with some more info. Enjoy your new truck!!

285/75/16 Probably the biggest you want to go stock
That's about 33X11 in inches.

Also if you do a 3in suspension, and a 3 in body lift that's a relativley cheap way to come up with 6 inches which will deffinetly clear 36s.

will i have to re-gear to run 36's? also i was reading up on this Revtek 2" spacer lift just for the front and is that right? it says i can clear 35's with just 2 more inches in the front.

The Revtek system includes cast aluminum coil spacers (and necessary new studs) for the front suspension which produces a more level stance over the factory ride height. This improved stance enhances the look of the vehicle while also providing enough clearance to run up to a 35x12.50 tire on a stock offset wheel. By leveling the vehicle, rearward visibility is greatly enhanced over the factory ride due to better visual angle over the tailgate. By utilizing the OEM strut and shock system this system provides a quick, price effective way of enhancing the look and performance of the vehicle. [align=center]

3" body with a 2" susp you can fit 35s on it and yes you will want to do the gears.. look at my pic thats 6" of lift with 35s...check out this site http://www.topguncustomz.com/ parts are cheaper then what ive seen you type.

before you order your lift make sure you know what kinda gears your gonna need and make sure you can afford to buy and install those. thats the pricey part of lifts/tires.

i was told i could run 35 or 36 with stock gears. what would happen thats bad. i mean if it doesn't hurt it too much ill go ahead and do it and save up for gears if there would be a long term problem.
