Word of Advice!
Ah man, I'm so dissapointed lol! Today after I got an oil change, I was on my way home, and I was driving somewhat aggressive. I was having a good time kind of crusing through route one giving ppl some lol. Anyways, at one point I got stuck behind an 2008 Chevy 1500. It was a quad cab short bed, with a color of gold. It had a nice set of factory rims on it as well, and that's about it. But it was very new and clean looking. It didnt have an exhaust, so it didnt seem to threatening nor did I think much of it at first. Well, After being behind him for awhile, I kind of picked up that he was annoyed I was behind him. He was going a good 45 through the 35 like I was. Finally, I got to a point where we got stuck at a light. I was in the right lane and he was in the left. I chose not to pull up nose to nose with him though because I hate sitting at lights side by side with ppl, just awkward lol. Well after sitting there for awhile, I started thinking if I wanted to floor it when the light turned green. I was a little nervous though because my truck is very loud, and I couldn't see if there was a cop in line behind me or not. I also didn't want to risk looking stupid if he didnt hit it, so I was just going to feel him out when the light turned green. Well, sure enough, the light turn green and he just fricken floors it. He kind of stunned me actually, so then I hit it after I comprehended what he was doing. We only had a about 500ft to race, so the race was short, and he won by about a truck length. His lane was stopped so he slammed his brakes, and then I flew by him going about 75mph because I wanted to give him some exhaust lol. I was so pissed that I didn't hit it right off the bat. I wish I had pulled up nose to nose him too, but instead he was a good 3ft. ahead of me at the light. So, to wrap this up lol, my advice is that if you guys EVER think you might want to race somebody and you think they might want to race you back, make sure you give it all you got because you'll regret it when they leave you in the dust and they think they just wasted a RAM! Ahh I just know this Chevy guy thinks he just beat some big old black ram lol! Call me nuts, but I can't stand it hahah. Hope you guys enjoyed this story!
If you weren't fully committed to it, and you weren't even nose to nose, you should have just let him zoom off by himself. That way he would have looked like the dumb ***. Instead, you look like you lost (no matter what the circumstatnces were) because you tried it and couldn't catch him.

dont sweat it. ive never taken any short drag under those condition seriously, and im sure the other guy knew it too.
proper etiquet for a street light drag:
1.come to stop right at the crosswalk line
2. aknowlage other driver with a few revs of engine
3. wait for response(if no response is heard, no need to continue)
4. kill a/c, shut off o/d, and get ready
reaction time is everything,i find it helps to have knowlage of the stoplight. of course i dontsupport illeagal street racing

You all make extremely valid points! Silver, thats exactly what my brothers told me too, I should have just let him go at that point, but like you said, just looked like I lost. I don't usually race too often, but occasionally it gets lame driving calmy all the time, so now and then I like to get a little illegal lol. Next time though, I'll do a few exhaust pumps and do better with communciation to make sure he wanted to go, darn!

next time if you are serious ? let the other person know by hold the pedal to the floor hitting the rev limiter leaving the trans in N then drop it in gear when the light turns..then that will tell em how serious you are.....
Ha ha ha ha ha!
That'll leave him in the dust for sure, or leave a pile of tranmission parts and fluid laying on the ground under your truck. Either way, it would be fun to watch.
