Default gas tank bolts

Hello all,
[blockquote]
just needed to find out what size is the bolt that attaches to the fuel tank straps? i just got both front and back gas tank straps and before i change them i want to put new bolts because the ones on there may be very rusty. does anyone know the length and width i need?

also, if one of the bolts breaks the easiest way to fix it is to drill it out?
[/blockquote]
thanks again,
Calvin

from the looks of the service manual i downloaded it looks like you have studs on the frame that the straps go onto then the nuts are what would be removed. it doesnt show what size they are. but if you could and i dont know what everyone else thoinks i would remove one of the nuts and take it to a autoparts store and match it up with some new ones. youd even be able to get the bolts to go with it just incase. with having studs not sure what the easiest way would be to change those out. would go up under my truck to see but its in the shop. hope this helps you out

It is a 15 mm socket that will take them off. I just used my impact and took them off. They came off without a hitch for me.
