Im wondering, how you can tell if you have this, i have a 98 dodge 1500, slt club cab and it has four speakers in it but how can i tell if it has the infinity sound system?

 

i thought the infinity premium sounds system was a six speaker system with tweeters in the doors. but really the easiest way to tell is take off the door panel and check out the 6x9's. mine didnt come stock with one but my buddies did and he has the 6 speakers, we both have '97's.

or you could turn it up all the way and see how much it distorts but i wouldnt recomennd that..

 

BIGRED97 is right. If it has 6 speakers it has the infinity sound system. 2 6x9 in the front door 2 speakers in the rear doors(not sure what size) In the 1998 dodge ram there should be 2 tweeters in the A pillar (front windshield). If your truck has this then you have the infinity sound system. Hope this helps. Any questions just ask.

 

If you have tweeters in the pillars, you've got the infinity system.If not, you don't.

 

just some extra info, but if im not mistaken even with the inifinity systems the rears are 5 1/4's , but 6.5's fit fine.

 

Ihave the 6 speakers and I know it is the infinity system because it reads it on the door panel near the tweeters with the logo I would think that if you had the infinity system it would have the logo and the name. It is all about the name and infinity would have made dodge put thier name in every truck with thier speackes.

 

mine says infinity on the tweater on the door.

 

to get one that would fit correctley then could i get one from Mopar and get a unit to but in all the speakers from infinity to have the infinity system?

 

not sure what you are asking there? but if you want the infinity system dont go through a dealer or mopar they will over charge you. best buy now sales infinity equipment. the reference series. if you want better go with the Kappa series. or look around online and go with something else aftermarket that might be cheaper.

i have all aftermarket infinity because they are one of the best midclass audio products, but they are a lil more expensive.

go talk to an installer and somepalce like ebst buy or circuit city and they will help you figure out what you need/want.

 

Actually, if you want agood sounding system and you don'thave aneed run an amp,get a pair of speakers that has about 5-10w of headroom above what the head unit can pump out.That way you don't ever have to worry about blowing them even on max.Try to find a 3way 6x9 and if you can a 3 way 6.5. Don't underestimate the need for a seperate cone that can reproduce lows, mids, and highs.And most importantly, GO LISTEN TO THEM, with whatever type of music you listen to most and with the amps off.
