96 ram check engine light
I havent logged on in about a year, jsut got the truck back on the road in the last few motnhs.
yeaterday i was on a 1 hour drive. truck drove great the whole way. when i got into town and pulled up to the traffic lights, it started idling horrible. if i put it in park it seems to idle ok, but not in d or n. about 5 min alter the check engine light came on. checked all fluids, pressure, temp, voltage, everything seems good. disconnected the battery and the engine light went away for a while. still didnt run very wel. now the light is on again and its running like crap.
any idea what i can check? the garage cant even run the codes for 4 or 5 days.

RE: 96 ram check engine light
Code #34 - Open or shorted condition detected in the speed control vacuum or vent solenoid circuits.
You may want to try looking over the vent tubing throughout the engine compartment. If it is all the original tubing, you may find a lot of it will be dry rotted with numerous cracks / leaks. I would start with this even if someone comes up with a more specific suggestion for your problem.
