Default GAS TANK ?

so while everyone is bitchin about gas being so high, this is not what this is about! although it does suck and i am poor now

i was wondering is there a way to upgrade the gas tank, if im not mistaken didnt the Offroad or mayb its just the 2500/3500 have a 30 something gallon tank. im tired of my little 26 gallon tank. i drive roughly 70miles a day and filling up every 5 days is just a pain in the ***, and i since i ahve a short bed i dont want one of the extra tanks that goes in the bed. i was jsut thinking maybe if there is a bigger tank in a the same body style that would bolt up in replace of that i could pick up at junk yard or something, will that work?

i would also like to know. maybe even running dual tanks. would be alot easier to fill up with $100 and have it last 2 weeks then do $20 every other day.

The Offroad package has the standard 26 gal. tank in it. I have read that the 2500/3500 rana 34gal tank, but I'm not sure about the fitment into a 1500. If you find any info on it please send it my way.

You can put a second tank where the spare tire is. I did this on my 1980 Powerwagon. 25 Gallon stock tank + 32 Gallon ramcharger tank=$170 fill up. The sad part is I can only go about 350 miles on that. Why do 440's have to be so damn thirsty? My friggin' Deuce and a half does better, and it weighs 14,000 pounds!

Anyway, parts stores sell single wire 3-port tank selector valves for about $40-$60

Hey squirrel man you think you could take a few measurements and pics of your fuel tank. im assuming the tank is just longer than mine? i would really like to figure out if it would be possible to switch em, or some how make a 35 gallon fit, maybee dual tank? but then i have exhuast pipe plus an extra fuel pump, new lines, a switch etc etc......

that is alot of money at one time, but regardless im spending the same amount just spread out more. i think goin to the gas station every two weeks or so would be better then every 5-6 days. plus longer mileage on trips and such.

if you or someone else with a 35 gallon help me out. that would be awesome!

It'll be a while til I can get the pic's, I am hella busy this week and it gets dark at like 5:30 down here. But I'll try to get measurements soon.

I know it's a lot longer than the standard, but with an extra 1.5' of bed it fits just fine,I don't know if you have enough room in a short bed, neverlooked under one.

here's my thought on this...i also have a short-bed 1500 and am fed up with the small tanks especially because i do a lot of long-distance travelling in remote areas in heavy winter conditions and more fuel is always better. i also have a 3" body lift. short box 2500's have big tanks if i'm not mistaken. however they also have a 2" (i think?) taller frame...is this where the extra capacity is? and if so can i (with some mods expected of course) fit a 2500 short-box tank in?
