Default Looking for that Water-Leak,..

1st off, it's NOT the Heater-Core.
There is no anti freeze on the floor.
It's straight water.
I haven't ran the Air for a month now.
But, I did make sure the drain for that was clear.
I pulled back the weather stripping along the top of the windshield
and smeared silicone nice and neat under it. Also along side the A-pillers.
Also the third-Brake Light cover.
I pulled the wipers and Cowl-panel off and looked around for any failed seals or rust.
Pulled back on the carpet on the drivers-side then, ran the garden hose across the roof
and windshield,...... HERE IT COMES!! Water's coming in and down onto the floor!!
AND I STILL can't figure where it's coming from! It's NOT the roof but that's it. That's
the best I could figure out.
Anyone here give me a idea what I should be looking at????
I don't want a Ice-skating pond on my floor this winter!![:@]

Tracking down water leaks suck!

It would be best if you could pull out as much of the interior as possible... seats, carpet, etc - and that will help.

I have used baby powder in the past to help find leaks... expose the part where water usually collect, then sprinkle powder in the area. It will make it a little easier to see what direction the water is coming from. Then start working back towards the source of the leak. You may have to remove door trim panel and such to get to the actual source... but I wouldn't do that until you had to.

It will probably help if you had someone spraying the water while you were inside looking for the leak (or use a sprinkler. )

Good luck!

Have someone water the truck while you are inside of it. May take some time, and have him/her hit every conceivable area.

Where it comes? Front? Rear? Left? Right? What did I miss? Use a slow running, free flowing (no nozzels, etc.) hose and slowly have someone else run it in quadrants on the roof. Try to avoid the windshield area 1st to keep the water out of the cowl. Then hit that SLOWLY last if no leakage was found on the rest of the truck. BTW, is it a two door or four door?

Wow funny you should post this JB. I was just logging on to post a similar situation. I have been having the same exact problem. I have water under my passenger side matting and its driving me crazy! It caused my jack holder to rust completely out. I put a hose in and around my vents and windshield but I still cant isolate the leak. Let me know what you find and I'll keep looking for mine as well. BTW my leak only comes on the passenger side. My truck is a two door.

It's a '96 ext-cab 2 door.
I pulled the carpet out and it's coming from behind
the dirvers side kick panel.
So I think it's coming down the front of the door and in
from there. I'll post more when I find the exact area.
