How fragile are the axles?

I will be getting a pretty sizable bonus from work this year and thought I would dump a ton of money into the truck.I've been looking and putting in a powertrac. I've seen a ton of really good reviews and I think it would be sweet. I don't do a ton of off roading just some. My questions are how do you have to drive differntly with rear lockers? and will I be looking at breaking the axle alot? I'm curious about how strong the axle is. Should I find a junk 2500 and trade the axles?

the 9.25 is actually a faily beefy axle, the weakest link is the C-clips. that being said ive beaten the **** out of mine and never had a problem. i had a friend with 44inch boggers on one and with a supercharger and nitrous it could roast them and the rear was fine. i would say if anythings gunna fail, its gunna be the powertrax its self, u want totally reliabilty spend the cash and get a detriot locker

Really now? Hmm I was gonna get 1-tons just to go to 36 inch tires, but may reconsider now. Although it wouldn't hurt to turn this thing into a short bed regular cab 2500 either I guess...
It's not really the 9.25 i'm worried about snapping, it's the Dana 44.

I was going thru 3 front hubs a year and broke 2 rearendswith 35x12.5x15 m/t baja claws, on the stockers. I swapped out the 2500 axels and now ride on 38.5x15x16.5 super swamper boggersand haven't had a bit of trouble, and all I do is mud. +1 for the big axels
