Alright guys, this time I don't have an answer
So I generally know Mopars pretty darn well, but I've got a bugger now and I haven't yet had the time to do the research. Hoping someone here can save me the leg work.
I'm about to aquire a '96 1500 4x2 5.9/Auto. The truck is junk (rollover) but I'm not interested in the vehicle itself. The $1,000 will get me the Magnum 360 and the 46/47RH tranny (not sure which yet) and almost all the components I need to transplant the fuel injected engine and O/D tranny into my '78 Aspen Coupe. I have no problems with the fabrication of motor mounts and such, but my hangup is the oil pan. Obviously, the truck oil pan will not work in the car.
What I need to know is if a 360LA block oil pan will fit on a magnum 360 block. I've never tried to swap them and honestly never paid enough attention when I've had them off either generation of engine in the past. I can cut and weld if they don't interchange, but I'd prefer to just use an existing pan.
I'm gonna start digging for the answer on my own, but if anyone here knows, please do tell.

The simplest most time saving solution would to be to fabricate your own oil pan, you said you can fabricate the mounts well why would you stop there? Make one you like, one you think would look and function well.

What about a 2wd trucks pan? Would they be any different?
Also check Hughesracing.com to see if he has any suggestions for you. I'm sure if you call them, they know somebody putting magnum motors in cars.....there are way too many and they are way too available not to have somebody making what your looking for.

As far as I'm aware there's no difference in the oil pan between Ram/Dakota, 2WD/4WD, etc.
I don't have the answer as far as the LA block is concerned though - one person who may know is Dan Bennett, he's the parts guy at Bremerton Dodge (check Google) - has been involved with the Dakota R/T Club & other Mopars for quite awhile.
FYI - the 5.9L V8 came with the 46RE transmission.
