Front brake lock up question?
does anyone else share this problem. in the rain especially if i have to hit my brakes hard the front end locks up and slides. i hate it. because my truck is the extended cab long bed and it weighs a lot and i dont want to hit anyone. any suggestions to fix it or anything would be great. thanks much in advance.
The rotors just get a layer of rust on them, so the first time you hit the brakes they tend to lock up for second. Happens to all (most) vehicles, not much you can do.
ive had three different types of tires on their. brakes were new about a year ago and rotors turned. i live in florida so rust isnt that common. my truck was bought by my dad in florida in 98 so its never been up north. the farest it has been is chatanooga, tennessee. thanks for the input.
I have the same problem with mine and it is usually after there has been a rain. I have been told that it is a thin layer of rust on the rotors for moisture in the air. This is common with almost all trucks that I have driven.
Mine just started doing it full time about 3 wks ago. I know I have a rotor thats warped alittle on the front rt due to a previous owner's neglect. Usually it will do it when it rains however like the other gentlemen have stated after a few stopps it's ok. Mine only locks when I'm almost to a complete stop. I would check the rotors. My ABS still works.
