I like the tone of the 44 over the 40 personally, but the tone will depend on other factors, such as single or dual in and out, running tips, headers, total lenght of the exhaust, etc.

Either is loud, but if you want really loud, go with a flowmaster 10 series.

If you're thinking about going with a 10 series, why not just go with straight pipes? It would probably be cheaper(I think the 10 series were pretty expensive last time I looked) and they aren't supposed to quieten it much from open headers. If not, I'd say go with the Super 44 for a nice loud, deep tone. That's what I have right now and I'm really happy with them.

Where the hell do you guys live that never have to get your **** inspected? I mean straight pipes are great and all but around here you still have to have a muffler if not just to put on for inspection time.

Pay attention to the muffler end
to tailpipe end
length
if you want to avoid 'drone' at highway cruise.
Avoid lengths from 55 to 75 inches.
Go shorter or longer.
