Default stalling/starting problem with 00 ram 1500

ok so this is like the third post on my truck. i have a 00 ram 1500 5.2l. sometimes you have to play with the throttle or it goes dead under a load. you have to let it sit for bout 15min before it will start back up. i took it to a local mechanic shop and he said he cant pull up any codes. the cel light is not coming on. he also said i need to take it to the dealership and see if they can pull a code. if the cel light is not on, will it throw a code? the mechanic said he beleived it was a sensor issue and not mechanical. any ideas? thanks for any help

with truck off, turn ignition key to on - off - on - off - on,
then watch the odometer display. if there are any codes, they will be displayed.

if it doesn't show any codes now, try do it again when you have the problem.
if it still doesn't show anything, try checking plugs for spark to determine if its lack of spark or lack of fuel. it might be starving for fuel (stopped up fuel filter inside gas tank). you can test fuel pressure at the test port on the fuel rail.. low tech fuel test is to pour a small amount of gas down the tb...

the mechanic checked the fuel pressure and says its perfect. not sure if he done what you are talkin about with the key. plugs and wires only have about 3,000 miles on them

the dealer has a better scan tool than the mechanic usually i know some of the ones that dealers have will pull a code that has been erased a while back or that hasnt popped a light and with the 15 minutes to start does it even crank?

it cranks if i floor the gas or let it sit for bout 15 min.

UPDATE i took it to the dealership and they are replacing some kind of cooling (or coolant?)sensor. and said it may be the problem. they say it tells computer how much gas to put in engine or something. so they workin on that now should know something in a couple hours

That only works for 01+, I think...

I would NOT jump towards a computer. Sounds like it can be quite a few things. Like dh said, I would check for fuel pressure while it is cranking.

dealership checked pressure and says its fine. they are leaning towards computer or a sensor. MAP sensor, IAC, TPS all check ok. also the coolant temp sensor was just replaced. ar ethere any more to replace?
