4wd light?
hey everybody...
so i just had to use my 4wd on saturday seeing it was snow, then rain, then icy rain/hail nd it was just horrible out.. (have to say my ram took it like a champ tho, i love blowin by the civics while there going 30 tryin not to lose traction..) but back to the point, when i shift into 4wd sometimes the indicator light doesnt come on, then when i take it out of 4wd it will come on and not go off till a day or two later, or sometimes it wont come on at all. i checked the sensor on the axle nd it looked fine. i also to my DVOM and did a continuity test at the connection on the axle and no matter if it was in 4wd or not a got continuity.. wondering if anyone else has had a problem like this and knows how to fix it.. any help would be much appriciated nd im lookin forward to hearin from y'all..

short answer. unplug the elec connector on drivers end of cad and spray it out w/wd-40 to clean out all the gunk, dirt, salt, mud. this usually fixes it.
long answer.
the light in the dash should come on/off as controlled by the elec switch on the drivers end of the cad.
first do a dash test, where you hold in trip meter on odometer while turning key on. continue holding it in until you see CHEK. it will flash all the lights on, and then sweep the gauges to 1/4, about 1/2, and then full. watch for your 4wd light.
next unplug elec connector from drivers end of cad. with truck turned on. test for 12v or ground on those 2 wires (can't remember which). if you cross those 2 wires your dash light should come on.
remove the switch and test it. you might can clean it to fix it.
i can't recall if its a plunger or just two contacts on the inside.
its only $22.
