Default Pushrod length?

Im new to valvetrains, and Im slowly learning as I go along, so pardon my simpleton question. Im changing the cam soon, and replacing the pushrods, lifters and rockers at the same time. Do I still use the factory pushrod length? If not, how do I determine the appropriate pushrod length? Also, what diameter do I get?Lastly, will I need guide plates?
