Default more shift kit ???'s

upon installing a shift kit and new fluid for the 46re,does one need to retrain the computer?
and/or....
whats"flashing" and is it required as well?
thanx.

i just got off the phone with mancini racing in detroit.they seem to think that a shift kit for the '01 ram 46re is not available.something to do with the electronics controlling the shift points.
does this make sense?

You can get a shift kit for your truck. I have the 46RE (the E stands for electronic) in my 98 and I'm running a Trans-go kit. When you look at kits, you'll actually notice that a single kit will work on the 727, 46RE, 46RH, 47RE, 47RH, etc., etc. The reason being is, they all use the same basic valve body reguardless of whether it's electronically or hydraulically controlled. You don't need to retrain for flash the computer either.

The transmission determines when to shift based on fluid flow/pressure. Basically, a shift kit will increase fluid flow and pressure to extend the shift points and make them snappier.

Yup, that would be the one. Also, here's a website with an install how-to. Pretty handy if you've never installed one before.
