i feel for you guys where it gets cold. thankfully, low 30s is our typically cold of the season. But still, I just let it idle for about 30 seconds. BUt i will change that to now letting it warm up in neutral. I never thought about the trans fluid flow issue.

Always had a question ive never bothered to ask anyone I know, but since its the topic, I live out in California, so it doesnt get too cold here, 60 at the lowest ive seen lately. I always let my car warm up if I havent driven it that day for 30, 40 seconds, is that enough considering the tempature isnt bad?

30 seconds?? Ehh that's just like nothing...Just give it 5 minutes. I always at least plan it so I can let it warm up 5 minutes, and sometimes more. Just set aside some time to go out a little earlier and start it up, then go back inside and do something stupid to let it warm up lol. But 30 seconds is like nothing ya know?? No matter what temperature....if its hott, lets the a/c get going etc..

well 30 seconds is enough to get the oil flowing and a little thinner than when cold. our temps dont get as severe, so we dont need to get a a lot of heat in the fluids.

haha. i'm right near mt trashmore. yeah, i dont know of any other local guys around either. not many non diesel truck guys around the area. and they usually stay on their own diesel forums.

I've actually rented an 03 Ram from starr back a couple years ago to go pick up a car
in new york. pretty nice dealership setup there.

yah if its not cold out (i don't consider 30's or 60s cold) then 30 sec warm up is fine, you always wanna let it idle for a little bit to get the oil moving regardless of the temp
