Default Oil pressure registering correctly?

I went and looked at a 2000 Ram 2500 SLT with 154k miles. Is it normal for the oil pressure gauge to go down near 40 at idle and raise up quickly when giving it gas?

that is the way mine is 5.9 engine... The sensors can go bad however and start to leak oil up into the wiring so you may want to take a look at it.
