issues starting my truck
hello again. still having a few issues, hope someone can help.
its a 96 ram 1500 reg cab v6.
first, the truck stalls about 50% of the time when turning it on. if i turn it on and give it some gas theres not usually a problem, but even then, sometimes it stalles as soon as i put it in gear. it doesnt matter what the weather is like, it still happens. changed plus, cap, rotor, wires, oil, air filter.... any ideas appreciated.
second, today, i left work and got in my truck. it was about 3 degrees celcius, not bad weather. I cranked it and it started no problem, no stalling this time. but it sounded way off, almost like a grinding or friction in the engine, you could really hear it out the exhaust. kinda che-che-che-che before it started running smooth. i watched the oil pressure and as soon as it got up the engine ran fine, i still dont know why the pressure wasnt there as quickly as it usually is. got home and checked the oil and its still 100% full. hit me up with some ideas.
lastly, the front end. its rattling quite a bit. i didnt really notice it till i put on my new shocks a couple months ago. truck rides alot better but the front end seems really loose. my fater had suggested changing the bushings. ive also heard about the track or sway bar failing. just looking to get it feeling nice and tight again without the rattle and looseness. oh, and the tire pressure is fine.
feel free to lease and response here or email me at nmason1@gmail.com
thanx in advance, nate

I looked at your list and you did not mention either looking into the fuel filter or the catalytic converter.
The simple explanation of a stall is not having spark or fuel. If you replaced all of the spark components, and you have tried to see if you are getting spark at the spark plugs, then it could possibly be fuel. If your fuel filter is clogged it would explain why the stalling is sporadic.
Finally, the engine will stall if it is choking by not having a place to push the exhaust gases. This happens sometimes when the catalysts are old and start to break apart and clog the exhaust. This usually happens after the truck has become warm.
I would replace the fuel filter first. And go from there.

i replaces the cat not too long ago. fuel filter has not been checked yet. will do for sure, probably needs it even if it isnt the cause. also, the muffler needs to be replaced.
