Add up what you'llspend in unleaded gas withyour present truck for3 to 5years.
Gas + present payment or lack of = total cash.

Add up what you'll spend on diesel gas with the new truck for 3 to5 years.
Gas + Dealer fees, etc. + new higher payment = total cash

Which leaves more cash in your pocket = answer

I think diesel is alot better I had a 3500 gas and switched to a CTD and I have alot more power and better MPG. but thats just my opinion and payments are up the *** for me because I'm 19 and havent got alot of credit but in the long run I think its alot better for you.
