this is ridiculous. do you have to take out the battery tray and the air snorkel pos to get the damn bulb out? changing the passenger side takes like 2 seconds, the drivers side is buried by so much crap that it seems impossible. it's -15c and i was out there for like 2 hours trying to get this stupid bulb out, my hands are bleeding!! haha


any tricks? please help!!

 

If your careful you can pop the headlightassy off the mounting studs with a screwdriver by prying against the body or the turn signal.
Easy to damage the headlight, paint, etc so not recommended but is doable

 

I changed mine no problem.........getting it back on was a little harder to get the ring to sit right.

 

on my 01 its awkward, but doable w/o removing anything. do the passenger side first and look at how it works so you are pulling/twisting in the right direction. after you twist/remove the locking ring you have to pull hard, or wiggle it, or pry the bulb thing out.

 

At least on mine its not hard... just gotta reach around the battery... I did it in like 10 mins if that. I have big hands too...

 

You think a second Gen is hard, try replacing one in a 05 CTD, i was scared to tear crap apart cause it was not my truck
