Default SCT vs. B&G

Ive been studying this issue for a loooooooong time now. SCT claims more bang (est. 15-20hp MORE) than B&G. But anyone can say anything. Ive emailed SCT Flash Dealers about giving me dyno's or something to claim more in the 2nd gen and waited and nothing has come through. Ive stayed on the phone with B&G and he step by step guided me through everything. Id honestly have to say B&G can be more trusted since it had been around longer (+1). Maybe just the though of more experience (+1).I just dont see what the hype of the SCT is? They can both be handheld. but can B&G recustomize your flash options through internet just like SCT can (+1)? does B&G charge more to change stuff cause the SCT DOESNT (+1)?

Its 2 for 2 here someone break the tie.

I didnt know B&G was a hand held , thought you hadf to send your PCM into them ..Ive been waiting on the feedback with the SCT tuner but have not seen or heard anything . But im gonna go with B&G flash only because people like it and its been around for awhile. If i was you i would get another PCM and send it off to B&G...

i think the nicest thing about the B&G is that they completley remove the TQ managment.. which is priority to opening these motors up.. last i knew the TqM can not be removed through a handheld

also.. B&G can slap your pcm around and shape it up to work with a certain kind of cam you want/are putting in..

i go for the b&g..

You might want to check these two short videos out if you haven't already. I will be ordering one of these SCT tuners pretty soon. I have been talking with a dealer on these and have confirmed that my truck will be supported by their software so now I just have to get the money together and order one. The tuner from him is regularly $600 but he occasionally runs specials for less than that. I already have 2 separate PCMs so I will be getting three custom tunes on the tuner and can just pop in the other PCM if I want to put the truck back to stock. This dealer also will tweak the tunes for you via downloadable email for free when you need minor adjustments after you've already got the tuner and decided to do more simple mods, or something like $50 if they're more involved like changing a cam or heads or something like that where the programming adjustments are a little more detailed. He will work with you on it and so far have been very helpful and willing to answer many questions.

SCT is the best thing out there hands down. You can finally get your vehicle dyno tuned! It gives you the ability that only stand alone systems like F.A.S.T could do, bigger cams, more boost, and nitrous! B&G can SCT tune your vehicle. It's alot better than a B&G flash. If you want more info on how bada$$ it is, get ahold of Marty at KRC Performance. You can set up your vehicle for gas mileage or the track by a push of a button.

I have the B&G custom flash....don't like it. I'm driving back down there to get it re-tuned.

^^^^^^ +1 ^^^^^^^

dyno tune is why you would get the sct. The b&g is whats known as a "mail order tune" where they take your peramaters and put approximate figgures that are relitively close to your figgures and send it to you. The sct tuner allows you to head to a dyno shop and have them do the dyno tune and set the exact figgures into your computer.

I wish I would have saved my $$$ and got the SCT tune. My headers glow, runs extremely rich, barely can roast the tires from a dead stop, gas mileage sucks, etc. Now I have to drive 1hr 30min to B&G so they can fix it. If you want the most power out of your truck, get the sct tune.

If there ends up being a group buy on these in the near future, I'll be jumping on the band wagon for one! I have the money for it, but I need to replace my timing chain first before I could get the true potential out of the tuner. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one under a cheaper group buy price and let it sit on the shelf until my truck is ready. I have the chain and associated parts, just need the window of down time for the truck. Thanks "Indy" for your help on that subject.
