Hey guys, have a 1998 1/2 ton 5.2 auto, check engine lite on,trans appears to start off inthird gear, will shift ok manually when manually done, no access to code reader, disconnected battery, worked ok then lite came back on, and problem started again,relize i need to find the codes etc, common issue with this type of symptom? solonoid pack maybe, any heads up would be great, cheers TC.

Cycle the key 3 times - on,off,on,off,on and count the number of flahes, then pause, then number of flashes
ex:
=3 flahes____PAUSE____1 flash = Code 31
Probably Solenoid pack - Governor pressure sensor/solenoid - controls downshifting.
