Definetly go with the autolite 3923's. They are two heat ranges cooler than the 5224's and are great plugs.

Could be the belt itself. I think I have a worn pulley which causes the belt to squeal after about a year or so. I also did the tensioner, but kept the old one just in case.

Your spot on, I sprayed the belt and the squealing stopped. Unfortunately it came right back... so I may just replace the belt while I am at it also since I don't have any idea how long its been on the truck. It looks ok, just s few very mild cracks on the ribbed side.

I have to try a new belt, the squealing is killing me!

3923 is 1 heat range colder then the 5224 .. 5224 has the extended tip not like the 3924 which you can run them , thats what its called for on 94-97 rams...

for what its worth, I run that kit in my Jeep. Hard to say what kind of difference it made since I also did an MSD Offroad ignition box and a few other mods at the same time.

Alright, all the parts are in and on...

Here's my synopsis incase anyone else is experiencing the same problems I had -

Symptoms:
intermittent check engine light
hesitation when accelerating
struggle to maintain highway speeds
would not start in damp/wet weather
Belt jumped off pulleys
Belt would not hold tension

Fixes:
Installed new belt tensioner & belt
MSD Blaster Coil
MSD super conductor 8.5mm plug/ignition wires
Autolite 3923's
New brass distributor cap
brass rotor

Outcome:

Tensioner was shot, the new belt and tensioner stopped the squealing.

As for the ignition components, all the symptoms I was experiencing vanished. The #7 and #8 plugs were TERRIBLE.... someone was too lazy to change them in the past I am guessing. Overall this quick and relatively cheap fix has made my truck much more responsive than it has ever been, it idles smoother, accelerates harder, and starts easier. We'll see if my fuel mileage increases a little too, I would suspect that it will, but I just filled up so I don't have any thing to base it on yet... I'll let you know...
