Default Help With Motor

Alright, Lets get this started. I have a 99 Dodge Ram 1500 with a COMPLETELY STOCK V6. Now im not the kind of person to drive a STOCK V6. So I need some help guys. First off, I have been told that if i were change out my V6 with a V8 I will have to change out all the electronics also? That might be a stupid question.. but i dont know much. Ok If i go with a V6 or a V8 I plan on building it from scratch. I want the over-all engineto have top end and torque.

So from an empty block.. what should i do next..

I just need some Help with brand names, good performance parts, and the order to do things would be great.. i understand that there is a lot to building a motor.. and im only looking for things to start off with at the moment.

Thank you and any help would be Great, If you have any Questions for me I will gladly try to answer.

might as well sell that truck and get a v8 360, then bore it out to a 408 stroker. your gonna have to replace the computer and possible the tranny (i dont know what they have in the v6's) unless you can find a totalled v8 1500 and get the parts off of it. that 408 stroker is gonna cost you some money, ive been lookin into it my self and just the kit runs about 2.5 grand.

I bet if you could find a junk 1500 you do the stroker for 5-7 grand. It's best to use a junk 360 anyways because who want to ruin a brand new one. Hughes engine has about everything you need to build a stroker.

Get a book and start reading... with a v6 u can put on 1.7 roller rockers , headers....but if you buy a truck with a v8 plus do the upgrads your talking some serious $$$$$
1.6 roller rockers (400) need 3/8 stud kit to convert from the 5/8 studs on the head.. (100) cams go from (300-800) the so called stroker kit (900-1100)even tho i dont see where the bore comes in at.. cause with a 318 stroke is 390 using stock bore , bore 30 over get a 400 that be idea.. till u get the block bored heads shaved polish ported. plus all the gaskets , PCM flash ...LOL..serious cash flow .. fancy air cleaner , valve covers cuts into my goal..
