First Time Towing - Got Some Questions
there will not be a straight front axel so use the control arms. I tow cars and thats how we hook them up sometimes. Also if you want to be technical then the straps should be X'd and not put in V configuration.
Alright then. Thanks for all the reply's.
HankL, I will do that. I have the perfect lot to do it in.
mferrari, that drawing actually helped a lot. Thanks.
I will let you guys know how it went. Thanks again everybody.

I have used the UHaul car hauler and let me say 1st...its a heavy beast just by itself. Add a Caprice to it and you wont go anywhere fast. HAHA. They are very solid and well thought out. Yes they come with all the tie down stuff and lights. There's nothing to the lash-up or the tie down...all pretty straigh forward.
Hello Customcars, i've been towing fifth camping trailers since 1990. All who replied has given you great advice. I have a question. Is this 10 mile tow just a one time thing, or are you doing this often?
If its a one time deal, would it be less hassle just to get a low bed tow truck and have ithauled home. Renting a trailer, etc. seems a lotta hassle for one time thing.

Yeah it's a one time thing, but it's cheaper to rent the trailer then get a tow truck to do it for me.
And i measured the distance today. it's 5.7 miles one way. But I'm alittle worried about the one hill I will have to go down. It's a doosy... probably close to a 45-50% grade. Not really long, but there is a light right at the bottom. I tried to figure out a way around the hill, but I'm still not seeing one.
Now, when I do tow this thing, I will have new pads, and new shoes on the truck. But knowing the fact that a fully loaded 18 wheeler could stop faster than I could in my Dodge, that hill worries me.
Should I find a way around it? I really don't want to pay for a tow truck. The only reason I'm towing this things in the first place is because the guys needs it out of his drive way, and I can't get it registered for a couple of weeks. But The deal was way to good to pass up.
