Default noise in 4WD

Hello. I notice a considerable whine when I'm running in 4WD high. Speeds are between 30 and 50 mph on snowy roads and highways. The truck has never been abused, and it has 115k miles on it. Is this normal? Has anyone noticed this? Thanks.

Yeah, I have noticed it, too. I did a post on this a few days ago that you can check out here:

Seems that the chain inside the t-case can be a bit whiney. Just as long as you aren't hearing any grinding or clanking, you should be good. I am going to drain my case and refill with MOPAR ATF +4 next week and see if it quiets it any.

Yes. The transfer case. That's what the manual calls for.

+1...that is what I have been told to use...someone said it was so if the seal between the tranny and t-case went bad, there wouldn't be any bad mixing of fluids.
