2 or 3 inch Body lift?
I'm eventually wanting to install a 2 or 3 inch body lift, as well as a suspension lift at some point.
Can anyone show me some pictures of 2" lifts on our trucks vs. 3"?
I'm leaning more towards the 2" because all I really want from the body lift is some extra room in the engine bay, and 3 inches might show just a little too much frame. Also I does anyone have apicture of a 2" body lift without the back bumper raised?
Originally my plan was 3" suspension 3" body lift
Now I'm thinking 5" suspension 2" body
Padodgeram or Silverif you're reading thishow far is your rear bumper off the ground? The law in PA is 30" so i'd like to keep it to 31 at the most with tires and everything.

with out raising the rear bumper with 3" body ,3" susp your at 26" so if you want to go with a 5" susp /3" body you will only gain 2" then your at 28" legal !!!! . but when you raise the rear bumper with the 3"body / 3" susp its at 29" on the line..but i have a friend that works at a hot rod shop and he is gonna fab up a piece that will fit between the body and bumper so i can lower it back down then ill jump up to a 5" lift...
3" lift the bumper sits at 22"
3" body sits at 25"
35" tires at 26 1/2"

35" tires at 26 1/2"
I have the 3" BL as you know, and there is no visible frame. Get that part out of your mind, it is not an issue with Rams. I'll take a measurement for you, but is the law to the bottom of the bumper, or the top?
Just something to consider, before I got my 3" bl, I measured my garage to see how much cleareance I had above the roof. With just a 3" suspension lift and 75% used 285/70/17's, I had 4.5" of clearance to the rubber edging of the garage opening, and 5" to the wood trim of the garage opening. I figured that was plenty for the 3" BL, and tires. I estimated that the bl and tires would come to about 4" total. But now that the lift is done, i rub the rubber edging as I come in the garage, and almost touch the wood trim. So that means that a 3" BL + 35's actually gave me closer to 5" of added lift over what I had. Just something to consider when you plan what lift you want to do. 3" is not just 3".

When I had my 35's and a 5" Skyjacker suspension lift I cleared my standard 2 car garage door by 2-3". How you enter the garage (pitch of driveway) will also effect that too.
I would get the 3" body lift over the 2". Cost is negligable, Bumper brackets can be ordered for the 3" kits, the amount of work to install it is the same, clearance gained may be the difference between rubbing off road or not, and most aftermaket bumper companies, grill guards etc.. are able to be ordered with a 3" modification, but I have yet to see anything for 2" body lifts. Just my .02
We don't have the bumper restriction here in Colorado, but if we did, I would still lift it higher and then just either mount a cheater peice of tubing under the bumper, or build a new bumper that complied......if it were me....lol

I guess you could just not raise the bumper with the bodylift, but if I were to do that I think the 2" would be better again because there's a less noticable gap between the tailgate and the bumper.
Does anyone know of anyone that makes a 4 inch suspension lift for our trucks so I could get that and then go 3" on the bodylift to get the desired 7"? I'm only planning on running 36s and I think 8" might be a bit high for that. but I think 6" might not be quite enough.
So yeah if anyone can point me in the direction of a 4" suspension lift (all I can find is 3 and 5)
That would kind of fix my problem too I guess. Although it'd be nice to have more of the lift in suspension than body.
