Just wanted to share: Im starting a 01 Ram Show Truck
I dont post often, but frequent this site and Ive decided to start my show truck project.
First, the truck:
2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Std Cab, 5.9 gas, Auto, 4wd, 15k miles, primer gray (was white), suspension upgraded (i think its about a 4-6 in lift).
I got the truck on a trade, and it has some rust, and needs some work to be road worthy (but nothing major).
Since it has 15k miles I decided maybe I could do a total restoration on it, bring it back to life, and make it a show truck. The truck has less miles than most 06s.
Now the mods: (dont want to tell all because its mostly custom so pics will come later)
1.New rims and tires (rims not sure but tires are 33in thornbirds)
2.20% tint all around
3.Custom white paint job with flames
4.Shaved tail lights
5.Tailgate handle relocator
6.Roll pan
7.Custom hood
8.Headers
9.Engine mods and fresh tune up(cant tell) and a sweet detail
10.Custom cab lights
11.Custom interior to go with the flame theme (cant specify sorry)
12.Rust repair
13.Custom headlights
14.Maybe some custom neon lighting to accent certain mods
15.Custom ram head light (cant specify location)
16.Dual exhaust
17.3in body lift (tires might rub)
18.Shocks, brakes, to match theme
19.Maybe a sound system
Probably more to come
99% of the parts are already waiting to be put on. Would like some advice on custom mods other people have seen, input, 2 cents, or whatever. Hopefully this project will be completed in the next month, so look forward to some sweet pictures. Will updatewithprogress and some pics. I will be taking pics throughout the whole project so if someone wants to see how its done. Thanks

Not to Diss on your truck, Its goin to look sweet, but how functional will it be. I think trucks are made to be Haul, pull trailers and plow through mud. If you want something to look sweet get a muscle car and it will also be a helluva alot faster
I really can't disagree with that statement anymore Force. I agree that if you gussy a truck up too too much, then yes, usabilty becomes scarce, and putting it through work will be hard because you don't want to mess anything up. BUT, on the performance aspect, man, you can really make a truck crazy and badass. I know they aren't mustangs or anything, but I've started building up my truck with just bolt ons, and she is an asbolutely beast on and off the street. I have 35" tires, and I get a little under 8 seconds on my 0-60. I just bought longtube headers and an offroad y-pipe that will soon be connected into my catback exhaust system. Should really open up some h/p and gain a ton of torque. Not to mention sound even more badass. Then, I have to get a nice cold air intake kit on, still haven't decided which one I want to go with. After the cold air intake, I want to invest in a fastman throttle body. Then to wrap performance up, get a programmer that will enable higher revs, and acknowledge the 35" tires. The thing is just going to be nuts performance wise, already is. Then, for making it look nice, I have tons of custom details done to this truck, and she really sticks out, yet it's still very usable. I don't have a problem ramming this beaut through thick mud or snow, or towing a trailer, or filling it up with lumber. She's awesome, it can be used for anything, looks custom as hell, and perform like a v8 beast. This dodge ram is the ultimate compromise. You get a car, then your stuck with speed, AND THATS IT lol. I guess the best combo would to be is have these sweet dodge ram pickups, AND a sick svt cobra mustang on the side. Man, that's my dream when I get a little older. Have the big lifted big rig, and a smoking loud fast race car on the side (mustangggg)....I'll love it!
Sounds good, 8 Seconds Really?????. My old 96 318 Runs alright but its not runnin 10's at the track. im not going to put anymore money in my truck unlesss i have to. I figure if i save up i can buy a cummins or a hemi 3rd gen, and be a step ahead of the game
thanks for the replies. Ive already beefed up the rear suspension for towing. Its got new leaf springs with overloadsand the stops for the overloads installed (wasnt stock). i have a nice hitch on it already. The truck will have power too, headers, performance plugs wires cap/rotor etc. the bed already has a spray on bedliner but im going to redo it.
p.s. i traded a 95 camaro z28 with lingenfelter mods on it and my daily driver is a 94 z.
