well if your gonna go the donor way out of another ram 1500 your choices are without going to desil are 4.7(idk if it would work) 5.2 5.7(hemi out of 2003 and up years) or a 5.9(i would go with)
i would say go with the 5.9 first choice or if you have the money go for the 5.7 hemi but idk how that install would go cause you would probly have to get a new computer in the car or complicated wires idk..... but go with the 5.9 or if not that go for the 5.2 the 4.7 engine is way too ***** for my likings.

The 4.7 and 5.7 are 3rd Gen truck motors and are not going to be anywhere close to a direct swap.
They 5.2 and the 5.9 will swap given you have PCM and wiring harness, radiator, transmission, and driveshaft. Hopefully I'm not missing anything.
If you're going to go through all that trouble you should look for a 5.9 so you don't have to do it all over again when the 5.2 leaves you curious as to what your truck may have been...
Also if you plan on doing any engine work it would be better to do it now before you put it in the truck. If I were you I would keep your truck the way it is for now, go out get the donor truck, pull all the parts off of it you're going to need, then part the rest of the donor truck out for $$$. Use that money to build your new 5.9, and possibly bullet proof your new tranny. Once everything is gone over, restored, and painted it'll be time to do the swap.
