Default Oil Light issue

Hey guys I recently purchased a 1995 Ram Laramie 1500 With a 5.9 in it. I just got this truck and the shop I bought it from told me they replaced The cat, 02 sensor, oil pump, and oil pressure sending unit. Now, when I start it up the oil presure guage reads 40psi for a while untill it warms up the needle will drop just a little but still within the safe markings. when I come to a stop and the idle is below 1k the oil light comes on, and the needle doesnt fluctuate either. since they already replaced the pump and sending unit should I be looking at new bearings? I'd try hooking a mechanical gage up and checking the pressure before anything else. My 96' showed zero pressure unless you were accelerating. I replaced the sending unit with a mechanical gage and it shows a constant 25 lbs at idle. Cost =about $10 and about1.5 hours to hook the whole mess up and mount it.

Yeah Monday I will be hooking up a mechanical gauge. I cant afford the downtime while putting these bearings in.

Oh yeah it does clatter at start up a little but for like less than a second.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. I have 177k on mine. Replaced sending unit and two shops have put a manual gauge on and say the oil pump is good. They are saying she's just worn and to go to a heavier weight oil till she goes. The other option would to replace the engine. I can say that I put in a bottle of Lucas Oil Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer and the start up knock lessened some and the light stopped flickering. Then a shop changed my oil to 10w30 (I normally run 5w30 in winter) and it's back to the same. I'm gonna start running a 15w40 and see how it goes. If you find something different, please post. I'm really curious to see what others find on this.

Actually My motor only has 128k on the odo. There really Is no need for a new motor, Probably what Im goin to do next week is drop the pan and and change the Main and Rod bearings. It really isnt too hard to do.

they should slide out with a nudge of a punch or screwdriver, dont beat on them though, loosen all the main caps and the bearings will come out easier
