Default Laramie vs. sport motors

Ok, what gives that Dodge ram sports that extra lil' horsepower that they are rated at?Just wondering cuz if they have different heads or something that would be a cheap swap for me.

i dont think they are rated for more horsepower. maybe dif years of rams are. i think the sport stickers actually do add like 10 Hp, aerodynamics i believe. all i know that it is a complicated equation

If your saying like the newer rams... the daytona edition and things like that had 5 or so extra hp suppodidly from a different exhaust system.

94-01 rams have no difference in hp between sport and regular models.

Somwhere around 97 the 360 gained a few ponys, and the 318 did too but I think it was before 97.

Well I think they purposely underrate the "Sport" motors....you know like they used to in the early 70's so that the insurance companies couldn't charge you more??

Because my "Sport" will blow the doors off a regular Ram in the 1/4 mile......

"Sport" models are typically geared higher with 4.10 or something else compared to non "Sport" models.

No they aren't. You should go back and smack the dealer that told you that.
The only difference between a sport and a non sport is the trim package. Now if you have an off road ram that’s different. Off roads come with a lift, tow hooks, and 4.10 gears. The
Other package is the heavy duty tow group which has stiffer springs, hitch, and 3.96 gears.
