Bad Track Bar? I'm Lost
Took my truck to my trusted mechanic. I asked him to take a look at the front end for a pop I'm getting. I asked him to look at the tie rods and ball joints. I trust him, so I'm sure what eh told me is true. He said the ball-joints are tight as well as the tie-rods. But I'm still getting a pop when I turn the wheel to the left. And it feels like it re-sets when I turn the wheel right again. I only have to turn the wheel about a half turn to get the pop. And it doesn't do it all the time. Mostly when I've been driving the truck all day, or on really bad roads with lots of pot holes. I can also feel the pop in the steering wheel, but more so in the floor of the truck.
I've also figured out that whatever is popping is making my truck shake at certain speed intervals. it happens at 35, 55, and 65-70. All the other times, it doesn't.
Since my mechanic Told me the tie rods are fine, I'm wondering if it's a worn out track bar. Or possibly worn bushings. What do you guys think? This is starting to drive me nuts. Is there anyway I can see if the track bar is bad? Should I take the truck to a second place for another opinion? Or maybe just wait till school starts again and ask my teacher? (I'm taking auto tech)
Any help is much appreciated. It's a 1996, no lift, 265/75 tires.

with the truck not running have some one trun the wheel back and forth whyll your under it.and wach the the ball sackit end frame side for side to side movementif theres any movement its bad. but the trac bar usealy make it wander not shack. check your tires to see if they have bad belts that can make the truck shack. and can be mulipide by worn steering parts like the tracbar.
Sorry, and the tires are good. I always keep a watch on ym tires. Working at goodyear, I've seen what happens when your tires go bad. it's not pretty. I've seen it all first hand.
Maybe I'll take my truck to my teacher on monday and ask him. He's the local chrysler guy, so he should be able to help.
Thanks for the help.

loose lower shock bolt (< 100#) will create a pop/thump under the feet of driver or passenger. put a air wrench or pull bar on it and make sure its real damn tight.
check all your front end parts for possible grease fittings. if you have any give em a shot. also you might want to get a second opinion at a different shop. your guy might have just missed it.

Thanks dhvaughan. I just greased all my fittings two days ago. it didn't help the pop at all. I also keep my fittings greased, as long as they arn't blown.
I'll take a look at that lower shock bolt, because i can feel the pop right under my feet, as you said would happen.
Thanks again for the help guys.
