Hell the K&N FIPK, Magnaflow Catback and gutting the catsgave me35 HP at the wheels when I dynoed it (290HP compared to 255HP stock) with 3.55 gears and 35" tires on a 4wd I figure its around 350-360 at the crank the way it is.

This is true. There used to be a guy who lived by me who had dual straight pipes. It sounded more like an Indy Car than anything else. I used to think it would be funny to put v6 badges on my v10 and then go pull out some fords and chevys out of our local mud pit. Just to see that "what the hell" look.

wow nothing. Not even a thats dumb or anything. What is nvm?
nevermind, I typed a paragraph then tried to reference another forum but was blocked. But anyways, you want it ok, I think your idea is dumb UNLESS you have the 6-7k to buy a paxton otherwise it is a pointless expedition since the amount of aftermarket parts for the V10 are next to nill, cant even get a ****ing intake manifold for the thing, if you want to spend the money, build a 360 motor, just because its a V10 doesnt mean its fast as hell. Its 488cc yes, but for that big of a motor I would expect screaming fast performance even put into a lighter truck. The amount of money you would spend to swap in a v10, add the limited selection of aftermarket parts, and get the ENTIRE wiring on the new truck replaced would amount to less hp than a 360, already in the truck, with the same amount of money spent building it. Although an interesting concept and it would be kick ***, youd still be slower then most built engines. But hey, if you have the money, do whatever you want regardless of what people say, whatever makes you happy.

no offence, but what experience do you have to make such an ardent argument against such an idea? Have you ever done it before?

Sounds like a good idea. One I have thrown arround myself a time or two. I like keeping things as factory as possible, and swapping in another factory truck motor into a 1500 would be really nifty. I doubt it will perform as well as the numbers would suggest, and yes there should be a lot of work into the swap, but very cool none the less. Its a good way to grab 380 torque As far as the chargers are concerned, idk. I havent looked into it that much. Call paxton up and see what they have to say on the subject.

Umm The Paxton kit can be had for 4799.99here:

There are PLENTY of aftermarket parts available. Why would you need to change the ****ing intake anyway? It is a good piece, tuned for torque because it is for a TRUCK. Wiring isnt that big of a deal, there is a V-10 ram at the local U puu it yard, you could get the computer and the entire harness for ~125.00 and an afternoon in the yard. V-10s are available pretty cheap too. Pretty much tha same price as a 360 in the same condition. If he already had a 360, he could sell it and the wiring to recoup some of his cash outlay, maybe even get more for the 5.9. anyway a 1500 is at least 1000 lbs heavier than a 3500 or HD 2500. That alone woud cut 1 second off its 1/4 mile time. My 4x4 QCSB with 3.55 gears and 315 70/17 BFGs ran 16.0s last summer on a humid 88 degree day. In a 2 wd 1/2 ton on a cool night withe 4.10 gears I'd bet high 14s would be pretty easy.

I get 13-14 driving around empty, and 11-12 towing my Jeep on an open trailer (Jeep and trailer weigh 6200 LBS with the aerodynamics of a Brick wall) Pulling the same Jeep trailer with my Cummins on the same route I got 16 MPG. With my shop 360 I've never seen better than 13 MPG no trailer, and 8-9 towing a Grand Cherokee.

Dtruck, I'm not knowledgable enough to offer advice, but I'd love to see the results if you go through with it. I came very close to buying a black sport with a supercharged V-10 a few months ago, but practicality set in.

Please update if you proceed.
