Default Looking for new muffler (98 Dodge Ram)

I've got a stock 1998 Dodge Ram 5.2 V8. I want to replace the stock mufller to get something with a nice aggressive tone. I had the Flowmaster 40 series on my Dodge Dakota and that was good. My question is, what configuration do I need to just swap out the muffler with no modifications?

Your pipe should be a 2.5' pipe, or possibly 2.75"/3". I know the exhaust increased in size for the added power after 1998 or so... My 96 has a 2.5" pipe. All you need to do is find out what size your pipe is, then find a center in/center out muffler of your choice. Lenght wise, all I can tell you that the glass pack I bought was 23" long, and it was siginificantly longer than the OEM muffler. So I'd say somethign around the 20" long range should work well.

As for installing it, welding it in would be the best way to go, but I know that being short on cash sucks, so I basically just clamped my glass pack on with clamps from Advance. It works just fine. Sounds pretty good too, but I have shortie headers too.

Good luck to ya.

So I just got around looking under my truck for this muffler. The stock muffler seems to be 34" long. That seems odd doesn't it? How the heck do I go finding a bolt on replacement? Or do I have no choice but to have a shop do it? Thanks.
