Default cam size

hey guys,
I am looking to rebuildmy motor this spring to get alittle more out of her, i was wondering if anyone has put a new cam in their 5.2 and what size it is and how it is working out for them. i have heard that if you put the same size cam from a 360 into the 318 it works pretty well. im not looking for someting huge that it is only going to run wide open i just want something that has some lobe to it that you can hear and get more power from it but something i can drive everyday. also i hear that it is not good to put a big cam in a fuel injected motor cuz it will blow the goods out of the motor at high rpms. any suggestions?? also i want to put some roller rockers in it any suggestions??

no offence, but it sounds like you should be doing a bit more research before you even think of a cam. No problem with fi and cams. You get your truck painted blue and white? welcome to df.

no actuallya friend of minehas a 2500 with a 360 and he is a professional mechanic and he told me himself that he has put a large cam in his 360 before and it grenaded the motor one night when he was beating on his truck. also the 5 star dealership in town doesnt reccomend it unless the motor is built for it. but yea actually i painted the truck with a friend of mine last summer the blue is dodge viper gts blue pearl and the stripes are cadillac escalade white pearl.

well you can always put too large of a cam in and get p:v. My suggestion is to learn everything there is about valvetrains before attempting it. Doesnt turn out well sometimes like your buddy.

I made a post describing how cams work in very close detail about the middle of december. Search for the topic with 20dodgeneon00 as the thread starter I believe.

what ever you do if you put in the comp cam with .512 lift you have to machine the valve guides down. with more cam you need more fuel ive had an an on going porblem after i rebuilt my 318 with internal popping and gurggleing (vaccum problem i guess from the big cam) but it can race with the best of them the new hemi's have no chance and my truck is a 93 w150. your stock cam is .432 lift the 360 is only .410 and your internally balanced the 360 isnt i wouldnt worry about grenading it as long as you have the proper amount of fuel going in. rich is always better than lean. and the 318 is know as a more dependable motor anyway
