What Oil you use? Whats best for my eng. ?
Right now (from canada) i use Petro-canada conventional 10w-30 oil but will be switching to Quaker State 10w-30 full synthetic oil next use penzoil filters
Anyway you slice it, opinions will differ. If you change your oil every 3-4K miles, it doesn't matter what type you use. There are many vehicles out there with 200K+ miles on them that have never used anything but conventional. Like CSCustomCars said, if you are going to go high mileage, dish out the extra dough for the full synthetic and a good filter. If not, don't waste your cash. The Lucas oil additive would be a good investment, too. Also, be aware of the fact that new full synthetics have a high detergent content, which can eventually wash away deposits that have formed over time from using conventional oil. These deposits could be holding back potential leaks, so wash them away, and you have a leak. That COULD happen...nothing to say it would for sure. I change mine at a regular interval of 3 months/3K miles, so I just use Valvoline Max Life 10W30 and a Mopar filter...about 15 bucks...less that 5 qts. of synthetic oil. If you go with Royal Purple or Amsoil, expect to pay around 7-9 bucks a qt...at least from the ones I've seen. But, the cost isn't much different to do a change with regular every 3 months/3K miles and doing it with synthetic every 6 months/6K miles...just a personal preference. Just make sure you don't buy any crap and leave it in there for a long time! I like the high mileage oils, because they have extra conditioners for older engines to help keep the seals in decent shape.

192,000 on Quaker State high mileageand a Wal-Mart Fram filter every 7000 miles. The 3000 mile change is only for the non detergent old time oils which may cause sludge. I doubt whether they even sell those anymore.
If a full synthetic did not last one year I would not put it in my truck. That is at least 12000 miles. I would buy an extended life filter too. As soon as the oil changes stop being free on my Yukon XL, I am going full synthetic and I will change it only once per year.
I read on this site that someone puts 1 quart of slick 50 and 4 regular quarts with good results and I am going to try that next.

Used to use conventional Valvoline 10W30 and napa select filter. Began burning oil and couldn't figure out why since I already had a Hughes kit installed. Switched to Chevron Delo 15w40 (diesel oil) and no more oil loss.
I agree also that if you change it every 3000 milesANY modernconventional is more than adequate. If you want extended oil drains or operate in extreme fashions (cold weather or occasional racing) synthetic is the way to go. I usually use Syntec or Q-state and stock up when it's on sale. Mobil 1 is nothing special any more IMO but still decent.
I think I'm going to try Pennzoil Platinum when my stock is gone. I've read very good things about it lately.

Lol...its just oil. Im using some delo and some rotella 15 40, half because of the new parts, half because its cheep as dog****.....well mostly because its cheep. $10 for a gallon.
Delo and Rotella are better than average oils.
Cost has little to do with performance
Why the custom blend? Did ya just have it laying around or is it a chemistry experiment?
