Engine Dying
I have a 97 Ram 1500 with a 5.9L in it. A few times a week my engine dies when I let off the gas to approach a stop but it seems to most often occurr when the transmission is only in 1st or 2nd gear. Every other time the engine runs great without any rough idle or miss. I don't know if its an electrical problem or fuel problem. I have changed my cap and rotor recently and the plugs and wires less than a year ago. I have been recently running a Lucas Oil fuel additive with every other gas fill-up. Has anyone encountered a problem similar to mine, before? Please offer advice if you have.
Thanks

replace IAC (idle air control) on the back of the throttle body. 2 #25 torx screws and an electrical connector. sort of hard to reach. use care not to drop the little screws or cross thread them. make sure the new one has an o-ring on it, you might have to take the one off your old one. about $40-50 at local parts stores. you can do a seach here in 2nd gen for a lot of previous posts to read about the same problem and additional info. VERY IMPORTANT - in the seach tool, under options, look for the second little drop down selection to 'search terms found in' = set to BODY OR SUBJECT. also sort result by post date.
01 does have IAC, its on the very back of the throttle body. $40-50 at any parts store. its the most likely culprint. Not very likely its O2. search 2nd gen ram for a million posts about it.
