Default Truck hesitating on 1/4 tank of fuel

have a 94 ram that run's fine till it gets down to a 1/4 tank of fuel then it wont go over 20mph without backfiring and shaking. Noticed that if it sat overnight it would run fine for about 5-10 mins before it starts to run like crap. I was thinking it was the fuel filter but want to see if anyone else has had the same problem or can lead me in the right direction.

Thanks

It sounds like you have some build up in the bottom of you tank. I never let my truck go below 1/4 tank, just because of this problem.

you might try a few rounds of gas treatment to see if it helps. look for one that absorbs/removes water. maybe use a heavy dose on a 1/4-1/2 tank of gas. it might help and its worth a shot.

I don't see how this would help since gas floats on water, because if there were water in his tank then it would hesitate more often. I think the tank needs to be dropped and cleaned. It wouldn't hurt to clean and inspect the fuel rail as well.
