plenum/waterpump/timing chain
hey guys. anyone just not care to replace any of this stuff untill it blows? im almost at 200k and i havent done anyting to the motor. it doesnt burn oil atall. and i haventnotice any pinging of sorts. my only problem is the backfire i get when i rev it and let it idle backdown. what r your guys opinions onreplacing theusual stuff?
Of the things you listed, I think the timing chain should be replaced. The waterpump is probably fine, but while your doing the timing chain, might as well do it too. I wouldn't mess with the plenum fix unless you need to. If it has gone this long, it may never blow. Or, it may blow tomorrow.
i belive that if it ain't broke it don't need to be fixed.
however, once its broke and you pull off, or get close to, a 10 yr old 'wear out' part, i'd replace it.

The backfiring may have to do with stretch in your chain. The chain is a maintenance item, just like changing your oil. 200k is on the high side for one in these motors...
oh ok im not the only one with that attitude, lol well i got a used motor lined up if this one happens to blow. and i agree with changin sh't when ur in there. i do it way to frequently lol . cool thanks for ya'll opinions.
