Default plenum/waterpump/timing chain

hey guys. anyone just not care to replace any of this stuff untill it blows? im almost at 200k and i havent done anyting to the motor. it doesnt burn oil atall. and i haventnotice any pinging of sorts. my only problem is the backfire i get when i rev it and let it idle backdown. what r your guys opinions onreplacing theusual stuff?

Of the things you listed, I think the timing chain should be replaced. The waterpump is probably fine, but while your doing the timing chain, might as well do it too. I wouldn't mess with the plenum fix unless you need to. If it has gone this long, it may never blow. Or, it may blow tomorrow.

i belive that if it ain't broke it don't need to be fixed.
however, once its broke and you pull off, or get close to, a 10 yr old 'wear out' part, i'd replace it.

+1 I am the last one to want to do work on my truck. If it needs it though, its gettin done. Drive it till its broke.

The backfiring may have to do with stretch in your chain. The chain is a maintenance item, just like changing your oil. 200k is on the high side for one in these motors...

oh ok im not the only one with that attitude, lol well i got a used motor lined up if this one happens to blow. and i agree with changin sh't when ur in there. i do it way to frequently lol . cool thanks for ya'll opinions.
