alright i have been looking all weekend for tires online. i am looking for 36 on 16 inch rim. the only two tires ive found are the Super Swamper TSL and the ProComp Xtreme A/T. are there any other tires offered in 36? the only reason i dont want the Swamper TSL's is becuase it is my DD. i offroad on the weekends but other than that its on the street and i dont wanna spend big bucks and have to turn around in a couple years for a new set.. The ProComp is offered in 325/80R16 which is like 36.5x12.8 but it is highly expensive... if anyone knows of any other tires in 36 or if you have Swamper TSL's and drive on the street a lot lemme know. Thanks

 

As long as you get the Radial TSLs you should be alright. That's what I'm planning on when I go the 36" route.

They also make IROKs in 36" but I'm sure you're probably not interested in those either.

 

I know some guys have a completely second set of tires for the weekend. You could always get some cheap 16 inch rims, have mud tires mounted, and swap them over when you want to hit the trails. It can save you money in the long run because they won't wear out from driving back and forthto work.

stupid question sorry but,a radial tire is more of a road tire right? so whats the big difference in TSL and TSL radial?Who on here has run the TSL's and how many miles did you get off of them?

No, they don't make SSRS in 36s unfortunatly.

The radial TSL will last you alot longer than the Bias TSL will. And you won't have to deal with it clunking for the first mile and a half of everywhere you go after the truck has been sitting all night (Bias ply tires flat spot when you leave them sit). A radial tire also won't heat up like a bias tire will on the highway so they wear alot slower in that aspect.

7500, and they might worn down maybe 1/5th of the way. But I rotate them every 2500 miles, and they're balanced right.

TSL radials aren't going to give you as good of mileage as trxus mts are. Trxus are more like an all terrain tire in comparisson. The lugs are substantially smaller and closer together than a TSLs are.
There are perks to them though. They don't make and road noise, they do okay on wet roads and ice, and they still do pretty damn good in slop. I don't really do any rocks, but I've had good luck with them climbing hills that are made out of slate. Awesome in the snow too.

 

i was searching for tires on ebay and they have a lot with the 15 inch rim. i have 16 inch rims. i searched on here to see if i could just throw the 15's on there if they had the same bolt pattern and i read that they only thing is if i have rear disc brakes i cant. is this true and is there anything else i need to look for. or can i just throw the 15's on and it be fine. i have a 1997 ext. cab 4x4 by the way

 

Well as long as you don't have a dual piston caliper setup in the front they should be okay. anda 97 shouldn't have that so you should be okay to go with 15" rims.
