Default tranny question

hey guys i got a 2001 1500 5.9 4x4 nd it has about 85000 miles.. i know these trannies arnt the best and mine seems to be working fine but i was wondering what i could do to the tranny so that it lasts longer.. im not going to rebuild it or anything but just some bolt on things i could do myself.. so my actual question is, wat is the best upgrade(s) for these trannies and the best/cheepest place to get them?

The best thing you can do is regular maintance.
But, a few easy mods would include an auxillary trans cooler and a deeper trans pan. These will help keep your trans temps down. A mild shift kit is another good measure as it will reduce the time it takes for shifts to happen, which will dramatically reduce slippage and heat.

Do a search for trans cooler. Myself and several others have posted several differnet ways to do a cooler install. Iv'e done a fair amount of testing on trans coolers with my truck, and I would recommend a cooler with its own integrated fan and thermostat. If that's too $$ for you, them a regular style cooler that is in the 28000-32000 GVW range works best.
