RE: Backfiring issues.
after about 3 hours the old O2 sensor broke lose and I was able to get the new one installed...
I drove around town for about 20 minutes and had no problems. the truck also started up and ran fine this morning on the way to work. hopefully that took care of my problem. I guess I'll give it a few more days to make sure.
Thanks for all your help guys.

To Big Paul
I have a 1998 Dodge 1500 52k on it. 1.5yr ago it started backfiring through the intake, you can determine this by running without an air cleaner on a dry day and listen where it is coming from. When I start it up cold approx. 5 mins it starts to backfire this goes away and it seems to run good unless I shut it off for 10 mins then it happens again and goes away I have replaced O2 sensors cleaned IAC and ran with a good code scanner waiting for a cylinder misfire or anything but nothing showed up. Tried seafoam and still nothing. It has been garage kept and is in great shape. I have read several forums and no one has come up with a clear answer to the problem but quite alot of people with 5.2 and 5.9 seem to be having this issue. I plan to start running through the wiring harness from the O2 sensor to PCM. But what ever causes this seems to be when Engine temp get to about 135F and stops at 160F. So I will let you know my progress. Good luck
