When my injectors was plugged up on my v10 it did basically everything you are describing. IF you are getting a mis-fire from #2 after a tune up i would bet on the injectors being plugged up. You can do a search on Ultra sonic injector cleaning on here for others that have done that. I did it the last time myself on my V10 and it runs much better then it did when i sent the injectors out last time. Hope this gives ya another opinion.

Check the spark plug routing TSB. Mine had a rough idle like it had a dead cylinder, a slight stumble while drivingand when it shifted into OD, it would shudder like crazy, all of which are the exact symptoms of the problem described in the TSB. It took 15 minutes to re-route the wires and it cured my problem. It's free, anyway, and can't hurt.

Hope this helps.

ORIGINAL: KY99Ram1500

ORIGINAL: Sirhilton17

Could be driveshaft, u joints, tranny, tourqe converter... ect... More info would help.

Whats it sound like, wheres it come from, can you feel it in the wheel? Floor? ect
Nope, its not from the frame. It is from the engine. Everything sounds normal untilrpm'sdrop right after overdrive kicks in, then the engine just shakes violently. If you hit the gas when it starts and the rpm's pick up, it calms down. Computer does show a mis-fire on cylinder #2, but new plugs, wires, cap and button was just put in to try and eliminate the problem. Thanks for the quick reply.
its definately that #2 cyl. Take out the plug and read it. see if ittl tell you its secret.
if you dont know how to read a plug, that should help

I had the same problem, 1st check your wire routing like mentioned above, if that doesn't work look at the plugs. Mine was telling me the rings were bad and it wanted to be rebuilt. If you can check your compression ofthe bad cylinderjust to be sure. Almost forgot a misfire can and does give bad information to the transmission through a couple of sensors. I dont remember which ones of the top of my head but I found them on this forum.

+1 for checking the routing of the wires.

Also make sure the mechanic (or whoever) that installed the wires didn't break one. I had that happen to me when I replaced the plugs once, evidentily did something to one of the boots that broke the wire inside.

When the wires were replaced, I asked the mechanic why the last two on the driver's side looked different than the rest. Thats when I learned that our Dodge engines require different/special routing for those cylinders, otherwise they don't fire correctly.

This started in my 96 today. In overdrive, it shakes terribly while driving normally (45+ mph), yet when I punch it or coast it does not. I do not suspect a misfire as I changed plugs, wires, dist., & coil this spring, and out of overdrive it runs fine. Seams like it gets worse as it warms up, but like I said, just started today.

Swap the #2 injector with another injector and see if the misfire code migrate. If it does, you just found your problem. If it stays at #2 you might have a short in the injector harness

My 2001 ram is doing the same thing I to have replaced the plugs, wires, cap & rotor but it didnt help Like you said it runs good untill it goes to overdrive at 40 to 45 mph and the RMP drops to 1200 to 1400 rpm. My serves engine soon light doesn't work so I dont know if theres a coed or not. I would like to know also what it is.
