99 Ram Shaking severly
Hi Everyone, needing some help from you. I have a 1999 Ram 1500 318 4X4. While driving and giving gas to the truck I seem to have no problem, but when the truck hits overdrive and start to go down in RPM's it shakes really bad. We put new plugs, wires, cap and button and made no difference. One guy at Advanced Auto parts stated it could be a bad fuel injector. Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to fix? Thanks in advance for your answers.

Could be driveshaft, u joints, tranny, tourqe converter... ect... More info would help.
Whats it sound like, wheres it come from, can you feel it in the wheel? Floor? ect

Have you tried putting a couple Valium in the gas tank?
JK, man...seems like it would be somehow related to the tranny, torque converter, etc. Just based on how it has no problems until it hits overdrive... I would leave OD off until you figure it out. It could be causing more damage everytime it does it.

I do not want to mislead with the overdrive thing. It seems to shake mildy or misfire during idle also. When rpm's drop at anytime from driving it shakes, but more severe after overdrive. As long as you are applying the gas pedal it does not happen. When you let off, it does this shaking. I read on some old post during a search and another user here had a 97 318 that he stated did the same thing until he cleaned his fuel injectors. Will have to do this. I did add some sea foam to the gas and I will need to run this for a 1/4 tank or so to see if this helps.

If it was the fuel pump, would it do the same thing when applying gas to go? Just trying to narrow things down so I do not go replacing everything in the engine to find out it was just something else.
I have never experienced it, but ive herd alot of fuel problems will show up at highway speed in a low gear, becasue of the high strain and low amount of power putput from the low rpms...
Really hard to judge. You might have to bite the bullet and just take it to a mechanic... judt dont give up yet.
