bump

iv got another question.. what if i were to purchase new 16x10 rims, 305/70/16 bfg MT's and get that 3 inch "budget" suspension lift fromrough country(topguncustomz.com) Would that combo work? and is their anything else that i would need to change/upgrade that's behind the scenes and not being said upfront? steering stabilizer? brakes? anything performance wise?

could anyone recommend anything or does anyone have any personal expierence? possible problems or anything? maybe a different lift kit, suspension kit?

thanks in advance..

I doubt it would on a 2wd. I have the 3" lift and 305/70R16 BFG MT's on 16x10 Eagle Alloys not sure of the backspacing and they rub when I hit a bump at full lock. This is on a 4wd. Now they fit fine and it doesn't rub bad enough to make a difference really but I bet it would on a 2wd. I'd probably get atleast a 5" lift to clear 33"s.

hmm what if i got the 16x10 rims and used my current 265's, i mean seeing how they are new and everything and when they started to wear down just buy some 285's?

would the 16x10 inch rims on a 3 in suspension lift really be that much different then my current 16x7 rims if i kept my current 265 tires?

i looked more into the 2 inch leveling kit and read a couple reviews on JC Whitney and people were saying that it makes for a pretty rough ride, and they had to get front end alignments afterwards.. so im figuring if i just spend another 150$ i could get new coil lifts and shocks and go 3 inches instead of 2.

im stumped.. any ideas would be much appreciated..

16X10 would be too wide in my opinion. i put 16X8 american racing ar-23 rims on my truck, put some 31's on 'em and they rub a bit at full lock, but not alot. if you stay around that size you could probably do a 3in lift and fit 33's, thats what i am planning on doing with my 2wd. rough country has some good stuff, is that budget suspension lift their spindle kit, cause if you wanna cheap lift that is the way i would go? fabtech has a 3in performance lift that costs $1000, but it is high qualitiy and replaces more to give the suspension, well, more performance. but ya, i think that 16X10 would be too much. just remember, don't do a suspension lift more than 4in because you will start screwing with your steering geometry, which will just cost more to correct.

your gonna have to get your front end aligned anyways, and i'm pretty sure your current tires will not fit on 16X10 in rims. like i said before, 16X10 might be a bit much. and any suspension lift is going to make your truck ride rougher.

Why do you want a 10" wide wheel? I mean don't get me wrong I like mine and I like how it stretches the tire out but I think in your case you would be a lot better off getting a 8" wide wheel. Most wheels come in both 10" and 8" wide. If you want it to stick out the side get one with lower backspacing although that may also cause you a few problems with rubbing.

To me 285's or your current tires are way too narrow for a 10" wide wheel. The 305 is the minimum I'd run on a 10" wide wheel. It works fine but is a pita to get the bead seated on due to the wheel being so wide.

I think for your setup a 8" wide wheel would work about perfect then you could put your current tires on there. If you want to go with 285's when they wear out you can do that too.

i was googlin earlier and managed to find this

http://img401.imageshack.us/my.php?i...x10rimsez7.jpg

my current tires 265/75/16s on 16x10 inch rims...

i really don't know what to do.. either 2 inch leveling kit or 3 inch lift with new shocks and stuff and just get new 16x10 rims and keep my current tires, then when they wear il just pick up some 285's?!

edit: well my current rims are 16x7, would it really be worth purchasing 16x8 rims just for the 3 inch lift?

The only reason I'd purchase new rims was if you wanted the look of a differen't backspacing. No way in hell I'd put those 265"s on a 10" wide wheel. It will probably wear funny from being stretched so far out and will probably pop the bead easily if it's even safe. I for sure wouldn't do it. I would just get 8" wide wheels. They would do just fine. Search for pics of 8" wide wheels. I bet you wont notice much of a difference other than maybe the tire looking slightly less stretched out. I also think your going to run into a lot of rubbing issues with that wide of a wheel. You can easily clear 33"s on a 4wd with a 3" lift and some people are getting by with 35"s on 8" wide wheels but the guys like me that run a 10" wide wheel are rubbing because of the width of the wheel. You have to also consider that with the 3" lift I have it's on a 4wd so I'm already quite a bit higher than your truck will be without the lift. I would go with a 5" kit atleast if you really want to run 33"s especially on a 10" wide wheel.

well i finally found a good picture.. somthing iv been looking for, ram 2WD with a 4inch lift and 265 tires..

http://img163.imageshack.us/my.php?i...sc00210xw1.jpg

he also has 16x8 rims, that doesn't look half bad... so im thinkin i should just keep my tires/rims for now and just get the 3" kit and then later on get 16x8 rims with 285's? what do ya think?

I think that truck looks about perfect. The 2wds won't look the same as the pics you are seeing of 4x4's with a 3" lift. As you can see in that picture. I think that truck looks great though. Do your 265's fit okay now?
