Kickdown Cable adjustment
Alright, how do I adjust my kickdown cable on my 96 Dodge Ram???????
I went to the one thread that showed you how to do it on a 1999 dodge ram, but my cable does not have the that kind of set up on the end
Do i have to adjust it down one the tranny????

The locking piece on mine is actually a push-in type square shaped piece instead of the removable white cap. Mine seems to be easier to deal with since I just have to push it in instead of removing the white piece, but either way it is a very easy thing to do. I kinda have to push it in a little hard, while gently trying to move the cable assembly. Once the square button is pushed in enough, the cable suddenly moves easily, so be careful to note where your starting point is so if it moves too much, you'll know where you started. I suggest taking a picture of it first. This adjustment makes a world of difference!

I finally got my hands Dirty this morning and did it, what a difference my tranny no longer seems to hunt between 1st and 2nd gear, and it shifts a little later letting me get the rpm up a little. When i ran it before it would shift to early not allowing me to get up to speed without hammering on the skinny peddle to get it to downshift again
Yay!!!!!!! Also i put on 14 by 3 edelbrock air cleaner and it sounds like the motor is breathing a little better, and when you hammer on it, it sounds like the motor is going to collapse the firewall
Very easy mod too, took me like 10 minutes tops to do, thanks to all you guys in the 2nd gen forum for leading me in the right and cheaper direction
