I have a choice to make UPDATE - Dogs prefer Dog Rams.
Just like the title says. I currently own a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 - QC, 5.9L, automatic, etc etc etc.
I also own a 1986 F250 - carb'd, and the sticker under the hood says NON-CATALYST in big letters.
I have to sell one because I'm moving and can't move the wife's Prius, the Ford, and the Dodge all together. The Ford goes or the Dodge goes.
So, which one do I keep?
The '98 is newer and has fewer miles, but...
The '98 also has a TON of issues just waiting to happen, as far as I can tell. I love Mopar, but I'm getting ready to roll into college, and I can't really afford to dump $1,000 here for a new rear end....$2,000 for a new transmission there...the list goes on and on.
So, inputs, everyone? I'm not biased here, and the "Ford is trash and Mopar rules" won't work with me.

I'd probably keep the Ford as the Dodge has a lot of expensive issues that everyone seems to have if you haven't already fixxed them I would probably get rid of it before you have to.

Honestly, I'd probably keep the Ford. Sell the Dodge to someone who is looking for a project truck. A stock 1986 Ford (don't hate me) would probably outlast a stock1998 Ram any day of the week.[sm=icon_quiet.gif]
From the text and tone of your post it sounds like you've really already made a decision and are just looking for approval.
If money is the prime factor, I'd go with the Ford especially if it's one of those old 300 6cylinders. I don't think you can kill those engines without armor-piercing shells.
Aside from that, my main advice is ALWAYS keep the one you like the most. Paying for something you don't like is always bad.

for speaking the truth regardless of being in a Dodge forum.
What engine size(doubt 300, inline 6 offered was the 4.9liter in 250's, still never meet a I-6 I didn't like...torquehorse.. )?..4x4 or 2x4?...standard cab or ext?...
My wifes work van(mobile grooming w/gen, halftub, tables, 65gals water tank, 35gal grey water tank, hotwater heater, and all the tools) is a 95 Ford E350 hightop conversion w/extended body...The 460eng has 150,000miles and have replaced a fuel pump, radiator, two batterys, one tune-up, and new brakes every year. that is it--starts every mornin and hauls the weigh around all day 5 days a week...A good Ford is never the wrong decision...

She's a 4x2, running the 351W. And she's CARBURETED. So, somewhat simpler maintenance (the fuel filter is next to the carb and the fuel pump is bolted to the engine).
I asked a guy I go to church with and he was saying the Ford might wind up being the better of the two to hold on to.
I like the idea of the Ford towed behind the Dodge with the Prius in the bed of the Ford. Unfortunately, a 1986 F150 Supercab Longbed weighs in at about 6600 lbs, so I imagine that the F250 that I have might be a tad heavier than that.
Thanks for the advice, everyone. It gave me a lot to think on, and I'll probably make a decision sometime in the coming weeks. I love the Dodge, but there are some serious things to consider and I just need to think this through over the long run as I won't have too much money to play around with.

Sell both trucks and buy a Honda Accord. Get a truckwhen you get out of college.

The new one is a 06 Accord V6 6speed manual and it just seems to be made a lot cheaper. It's okay and it runs nicely and gets great gas milage I can get high 34's easy on the highway and it is pretty quick it just has a lot cheaper feel to it. The body is a lot of crappy cheap feeling plastic and bends and breaks easily. The older one is a lot tougher car. The new one also has more rattles than the old one which is sad. All in all they are both fine cars for diving around town. I also have a 94 Caprice Classic then the Ram.
