Default Is this a bad idea?

Hello all, I have a question to ask. I have a 2000 Ram currently with a stock cat and aCherryBomb Vortex muffler. It sounds pretty nice but it doesnt sound quite mean enough for me. I was thinking about removing the cat butI heard it causes a bunch of problems to work around. So, I figure why not removethe muffler and replace with Y - Pipe . The truck in the video soundspretty sweet I like that muscle sound. I was just curious if its bad for thetruck... mpg / powerwise... the muffler I have now isnt much packing anyways. Thanks alot, Jon.

my friends dodge ram 1500 has just a y-pipe and no muffler, not sure 'bout the cat... but it sounds badass ,loud, and mean as shi*. i just cut my muffler off and put a pipe in it's place till i have enough to get a weld job for a y-pipe... but as far as i know no major downfall with doing that, 'cept maybe some torque? chime in if i'm wrong....

You'd be fine. You MAY lose a tiny bit of low end, but I wouldn't say yes for sure.

well my set up is a little different... I run a dump pipe right after the cat with an electronically controlled valve on it. valve closed= normal exhaust system, valve open= exhaust dumped right after the cat. I have never had any problem with this setup in fact I love the fact that I can simply close the valve and run in stealth mode so I dont wake up the whole neighborhood after a long night. when the exhaust is dumped the truck seems to run a lot more aggresively... it seems to have better response, and pardon the expressions but more *****
